JOB SUMMARY:

  • The PA & Communications Manager will be responsible for overseeing strategic external and internal communications for key business units in AbbVie China. This position will lead development and implementation of multi-stakeholder programs relating to AbbVie’s pharmaceutical products including proactive media relations, patient communications, and issues management.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead external and internal pharmaceutical brand communications and patient relations strategy and oversee development and management of these programs.

  • Set overall strategy and develop engagement plans for company interaction with external groups, such as patient organizations for pharmaceutical businesses.

  • Oversee development of brand key messages/stories and other communications for use with media. Establish trusted relationships with key pharma journalists.

  • Manage issues/crisis for the pharmaceutical businesses in China.

  • Manage PR agencies on a day-to-day basis as necessary.

  • Assist China PA Head in the development and execution of AbbVie reputation plan and efforts in China.

8. Qualification/Skills:

  • Experience delivering effective internal and external communications to a variety of audiences in a highly regulated healthcare/pharmaceutical company environment.

  • Must have demonstrated experience developing and implementing patient relations and communications strategies.

  • Experience managing large-scale, multi-stakeholder communications campaigns.

  • Experience in reputation management, media strategy, issues management and employee communications.

  • Experience working with patient associations or NGOs.

  • Experience managing PR agencies.

  • Strong writer with a core understanding of and experience with national and international media.

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, required.
