Amazon Software Dev Engineer - Platform Architect, Device OS in Shanghai, China

The Role:

As a Senior Software Development Engineer(SDE) – Platform, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will work closely with the hardware, platform, framework, dev ops, application and QA teams, Amazon internally and externally. The Device OS team is responsible for the delivery and maintenance of a high-performance, low-power, stable platform.

This Senior SDE will play as Android Platform Software Architect role and this hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and in-depth technical knowledge of Android software architecture, as well as demonstrated experience successfully planning, organizing, and conducting software development projects in a dynamic environment.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for software architecture of Amazon platforms, determining current limitations and compatibilities between subsystems, selection of new concepts and methodology, and development of major routines and utilities.

  • Be responsible for design review, technical direction and roadmap, including Linux kernel/driver, Android HAL, product build, release, sustaining and OTA strategy.

  • Provide technical leadership and contribute to the definition, development, integration, test, documentation and support of platform components (kernel, boot loader, user space system libraries and hardware specific framework implementation).

  • Define software architecture of Amazon OS and feature break down.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
