About the Role
The Senior Software Engineer I role performs complex research, design, and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line, and provides direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the development of cross-functional software products. This SWE performs software design — typically across multiple systems; mentors more-junior members of the team; and talks to users/customers and translates their requests into solutions.
Responsibilities
Build and support a data catalogue with automated processes to catalogue the data
Build automated data processing solutions to prepare, clean and on-board data into a central database and data lake with minimal manual input
Create backend data platforms and data infrastructure to support Data Analysts and Data Scientists
Write complex queries on top of the data design and infrastructure
Ensure the infrastructure is easily accessible and always running smoothly
Ensure systems meet business requirements as well as industry standards
Requirements
Experience working in Agile teams i.e. adhering to Agile methodology & delivery
Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management
SQL and NoSQL experience (eg SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB)
Data modelling
Python (or a similar programming language) experience
ETL
Desirable skills:
Knowledge of commodity markets
Data lake, data catalogue and data warehouse knowledge
Knowledge of reference data management systems
AWS knowledge (specifically: S3, Athena, Cloudwatch, Glue, roles and permissions)
Docker & Kubernetes
Data Science experience
