Objectives of the position:

  • Develops a technical concept of black slurry technology in close collaboration with the German development team as well as in close collaboration with the Chinese stakeholders.

  • Achieves full transparency on all available local black pigment sources and proposes a decision on the most efficient black pigment to be employed for ECO in China to serve the high volume market.

  • Establishes a formulation concept for new, cost effective water borne black Basecoats employing the aforementioned, validated black slurry technologies.

  • Validation of the new, cost effective water borne black Basecoat technology together with all relevant internal and external stakeholders in clear alignment with our ECO – strategy.

  • Establishes a formulation concept for new, cost effective effect shade Basecoats following a more efficient production process.

  • Validation of the new, cost effective effect shade Basecoats technology together with all relevant internal and external stakeholders in clear alignment with our ECO – strategy.

  • Trains, leads and coaches all relevant stakeholders in the new cost efficient effect shade and black Basecoat technologies .

Main Tasks:

  • Drives black Pigment Slurry development including scale up trials and industrialization.

  • Leads respective black Basecoat development with regard to achieve clear cost efficiency targets .

  • Leads a new project to develop new, cost efficient water borne effect shades together in a global team.

  • Regular scale up trials in close collaboration with the production team, precise evaluation of the impact of new processes on product performance .

  • Drives implementation of new formulations and new processes with all relevant ECO’s stakeholders globally, primarily Customizeation-Labs, Production, Sales, Procurement and Marketing.

  • Closely interacts with ECO’s/ EC’s sustainability and digital teams .

  • Documentation of all relevant results in audit – conform wa

Requirements:

  • Master's or PhD's degree in Physics or Chemistry, preferred Polymer Chemistry or Polymer Physics.

  • Fundamental know how in Polymer Chemistry and Physics.

  • Fundamental Knowledge in Polymer Characterization / Polymer analytics, preferable for water – soluble Polymers.

  • Experience in Rheology, Emulsions or Microemulsions would be an advantage.

  • Experience in Pigments / Pigment stabilization as well as their characterization would be an advantage.

  • Entrepreneurship, customer focus and way to market mindset, drive and track record.

  • Ability to communicate to various global teams and influence at all levels with strong presentation skills.

  • Team player, excellent stakeholder management and intercultural awareness.

  • Fluent in Chinese and English, knowledge of German will be an asset.

  • First experience in coatings industry would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite.
