Boehringer Ingelheim Associate Director, Strategy & PMO, TCM in Shanghai, China
Basic purpose of the job
Lead market understanding / scenario assessment, strategy development and implementation PMO for BI TCM
Drive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, developing in-depth interpretation of uncertain business environment scenarios and implications. Incorporate insights into strategy development and implementation for Human Pharma, Animal Health and Bio businesses.
Lead collaboration with BD & Strategy Head to develop 10-year/long-term TCM growth strategy and drive strategic projects for Boehringer businesses (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan), e.g., TCM strategic projects portfolio (Vision 2030)
Lead and/or govern Vision 2030 strategic projects and initiatives and ensure effective implementation and results. Lead cross-functional team members to deliver milestones
Coach BD & Strategy junior team members in cultivating market assessment, strategic analytics, big picture framework development, market models and project management; develop junior team members into independent strategy and business development professionals
Accountabilities
Lead TCM market and business analyses with dynamic, continual updates throughout the planning cycle
Identify key trends and changes in China macro environment, Healthcare Reforms, Pharmaceutical Industry, Biotech Industry and Animal Health Industry.
Develop future market scenarios, formulate strategic options, innovate alternative go-to-market models, and model implication on BI TCM business.
Drive development of long-term 10-year strategy & drive strategic projects (e.g., Vision 2030 projects)
Analyze market dynamics, and initiate discussions with local stakeholders to understand business impact and develop coping strategies
Lead and monitor strategy implementation progress
Lead the preparation and discussions with global stakeholders in key strategic projects (Strategic projects, BD projects)
Collaborate with PMO Community and TCM Leadership Team to advance strategic initiatives
Drive strategic projects and initiatives (e.g., Vision 2030, Winning in China Strategy) by leading cross-functional team members (HP Commercial, HP HCS, HAMA, C&PGA, FIN, ISEE, Purchasing, IT, BIX etc.)
Define PMO metrics and framework. Continuously optimize PMO procedures for robust and efficient project management.
Identify innovative, effective and efficient means via entrepreneurial thinking, cross-functional alignment and tenacious delivery
Identify project critical path, lead and organize cross-functional discussions to solve issues, and innovate problem solving ideas
Escalate issues and propose action plan when necessary, and generate regular reports for Leadership Team
Coach BD & Strategy junior team members in developing market understanding and cultivating analysis capabilities (e.g., act as rotation manager for management trainees)
Lead support to BD & Strategy Head in preparing materials for strategy workshops, strategic discussions, project discussions, etc., for internal and external stakeholders, as well as for global leaders
Required Capabilities (Skills, Experience, Competencies)
Top-tier university degree, preferably in scientific subjects (biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, etc.) or in analytical concentrations (higher-level mathematics, economics, finance, computer science); Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA) preferred.
Excellent oral and written English
Excellent working attitude and values; strong leadership but with collaborative mindset
Solid data analytical, excel modeling, PowerPoint and presentation skills
At least 7 years of working experience, with 3+ years of management consulting within a global consulting firm (preferably focused on life science, healthcare, animal health) or in strategic planning or business develop with a top Pharmaceutical / Animal Health company in China. Strategic planning, and/or other analytical experience required
