Responsibilities Req ID: 57963 Provides transport of patients and non-patient items to support the flow of patients and equipment between departments Accurately evaluates safe patient movement requirements and implements with the use of mechanical devices and sound ergonomic principles Uses ergonomically safe transfer techniques with no incidents of patient or staff injury Uses critical thinking through all transfer situations Demonstrates expert knowledge of machine and manual transfer protocols Uses each transfer as an opportunity to communicate and teach protocols to other health care staff Effectively participates in team consults resulting in documented patient specific transfer protocols Demonstrates cooperation, initiative, and safe and timely completion of duties Assures that transfer equipment is well maintained and properly stored Bed scale weights and miscellaneous duties Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred Qualification/Skills Experience 6 months previous direct customer service experience required Previous transport experience preferred Skills Able to read, write and clearly communicate in the English language Basic computer knowledge essential Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to effectively negotiate and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare workers Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, be self directed, self motivated, and be flexible enough to change priorities when necessary Must be able to push or pull up to 44 lbs. initial and 29 pounds of sustained resistance up to 100 yards plus Demonstrate excellent body mechanics in manual and machine assisted transfer techniques Must demonstrate the ability to problem solve difficult transfer or transport situations Licensure/Certification Basic Life Support Certification required prior to hire Work Schedule 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE) (8) 8-hour shifts in
