Join us and let's Imagine a better way together. Position Summary The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods. This role will research, recommend, and implement changes and improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Additionally, this role will coordinate manufacturing launches for new and revised products by analyzing workflow utilization, space requirements, and equipment layouts for maximum efficiency. Essential Functions and Responsibilities The Manufacturing Engineer will improve manufacturing processes and invent new processes while removing waste and labor costs from enterprise locations. Minimum Qualifications of Position Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline 5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work autonomously with a drive for success Ability to define problems and dive into cutting-edge and highly innovative printing technologies, and quickly understand mechanical systems, complex software, media, inks and processes. Ability to adjust to changes in workflow, and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications of Position Experience with print discipline and related media Understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE) Knowledge and Skills: Operations Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training. Develop, implement and recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance. Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency. Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinates deployment including training of team members. Works with production manager in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training. Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment. Designs, develops, and tests, and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency. Product Development Research, design, implement and manage new product development for materials, methods and chemistries Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results. Design and modify manufacturing drawings and specifications Prepare drawings, cost estimates and bill of materials for projects and production jobs This position identifies and executes projects of a complex nature that support the manufacturing strategic plan. This includes the creation, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes, production equipment, products, and related business systems. Project scope includes entire life cycle including initial concept, feasibility, justification, design, manufacturability, maintenance, and retirement. Identifies, prioritizes, and executes projects in support of critical product and process issues required to maintain or increase profitable sales growth, with approp iate management and customer input. Employs lean manufacturing practices to improve the safety of manufacturing operations, reduce scrap, improve efficiencies, and reduce cycle times. Implements process control improvements to reduce product variability. Supports new product development activities and teams, generating new products and processes that are fully capable of meeting all customer and internal requirements. Identifies and executes capital projects to support new products and processes, improve process capability and reliability, reduce direct and indirect labor, reduce cycle time, improve product quality, and improve health, safety, and environmental elements. Supports root cause analysis and corrective action in a timely manner. Generate and modify Bills of Material (BOMs), Routings, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Instructions (MIs), Packaging Instructions (PIs) and related documentation to support production and packaging of Printing products. Constructs Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFEMAs) to evaluate product quality risks Provides quick resolution to manufacturing shop floor problems and non-routine activities. Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Customers -- Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds. Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish colors. Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping. Manual dexterity for repetitive work. Frequent walking and standing. Chemicals: N/A Travel: Occasional travel to enterprise locations, trade shows and vendor facilities. The national pay range for this role is $115,000 - $145,000 per year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In additional to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
