Rowan University Associate Director for Allied Health Program Operations in Sewell, New Jersey
Reporting to the Dean of the Rowan-Virtua Rita & Larry Salva School of Nursing & Health Professions, the Associate Director for Allied Health Program Operations will provide overall administrative support for the respiratory therapy programs as necessary for accreditation compliance and program success. The Associate Director is a vital member of the academic team and liaison on behalf of the program, which is the flagship offering of Rowan University’s new Department of Allied Health. As the Respiratory Therapy program reaches steady state, the Associate Director will provide administrative support for the growth and development of additional new Allied Health programs with similar needs.
Responsibilities:
Work independently to anticipate and communicate needs in the Allied Health department due to growth of the department structure
Collaborate with the Dean of the Salva School of Nursing & Health Professions to develop the annual department operating budget, oversee Rowan Global revenues, and coordinate departmental technology fee requests
Manage continuing accreditation processes and documentation in coordination with Allied Health program directors.
Provide critical administrative support for the growth and development of new Allied Health programs including hiring and management oversight of additional clerical staff
Create/adopt infrastructure for coordinating tracking, reporting and resolution systems for clinical, academic and practicum experiences for Allied Health programs
Coordinate compliance, tracking and reporting systems for student immunization and health requirements as well as mandatory compliance training modules, including coordination with University General Counsel’s office
Provide initial, and over time, oversee, administrative support for program outreach to community colleges, healthcare facilities, and community organizations
Manage office operations including work, classroom and conference spaces, office equipment, internal reporting systems, and supplies and maintenance
Serve as the point of contact for the Rowan College of South Jersey (Sewell, NJ) campus location of Rowan University, facilitating communication with Allied Health programs and personnel at RCSJ and with Glassboro campus departments (Nursing, Health & Exercise Science), the Salva School Dean’s Office, the medical schools, and institutional services offices
Manage hiring processes within Allied Health, including coordination of offer letters and contracts
Prepare financial analyses and reports to facilitate budget development process and fiscal planning for Allied Health programming
Identify cost savings opportunities, suggest solutions to identified problems, and prepare fiscal impact analyses of program and departmental initiatives
Manage and process departmental travel requests and reimbursements
Serve as departmental liaison with the university’s finance and administration offices (Budget, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Etc.)
Serve as departmental liaison with Virtua Health College’s finance and administration offices (Budget, Research, DEI, Etc.)
Ensure departmental compliance with University policies
Supervise accounting for Allied Health faculty load through specialized software
Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree and Masters degree or signification progress/imminent completion of Masters degree
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in managing administrative operations in higher education health professions programs, including budget and financial operations
Experience in managing credentialing and certification requirements and procedures in allied health programs
Experience in managing clinical requirements for allied health programs, including building and maintaining clinical partnerships with health and healthcare organizations for clinical internships and rotations
Experience with supporting students in allied health programs who are required to have clinical experiences and in programs that provide licensure
Experience with managing all administrative components of program development and accreditation for allied health programs
Effective analytical, organizational, conflict resolution, and communication skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Required additional skills
Strong computer skills including Cascade or similar web editing software, Microsoft Word, Excel, Google drive or other database software
Excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills
Ability to be a team player and build effective working relationships with faculty, professional staff, and administrators
Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty and staff, and a commitment to a student-centered environment
Preferred:
Master's degree
Ten (10) years’ experience in managing administrative operations in higher education health professions programs
Familiarity with university finance and administrative database systems (Banner)
