[Summary]

“Sr.MSL-Solid Tumor Targeted Therapy (ST3)” is responsible for building scientific relationships with medical KOLs and seeking to understand unmet medical needs by approaching each interaction in the assigned therapeutic area as a field medical communication channel of Medical affairs, Janssen Korea. S/He in this position will play a role in developing and maintaining a medical strategic plan in alignment with cross-functional TA and company strategy through collaboration with internal/external stakeholders. This position is also responsible for conducting all activities in accordance with current regulatory and health care compliance guidelines. S/He will report directly to the Therapeutic Area Lead-ST3.

[Main responsibilities]

1. External Customer Engagement & Partnership based on strategic agility as a medical representative of Medical Affairs, Janssen Korea

1) Develop and maintain external relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) to identify scientific and stay abreast of current scientific trends:

  • Conduct balanced communication with KOLs to understand their perspective via various channels for interactions, 1:1 or group discussion and presentation, remote and etc.

  • Provide clinical support to KOLs and physicians on the clinical application of Janssen Korea’s established and pipeline products.

  • Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific information and, as needed, discuss disease state concepts and in-depth medical topics, ensuring medical accuracy and compliance with local procedures, ethical and legal guidelines, and directives.

2) Demonstrate the ability to calculate the impact of actions or words and a tailored approach:

  • Integrate scientific data into real-life practice to meet customer/audience needs, adapting interpersonal style to situations and people.

  • Anticipate the responses of various individuals and teams based on their vantage points and perspective

  • Generate and share meaningful medical insights during interactions with health care providers

  • Execute plans regarding reactive and proactive outreaches as approved via the legal/HCC exceptions process

3) Plan & Execute external medical activities:

  • Exhibit strategic identification of educational gaps and opportunities

  • Represent and support scientific meetings including congresses, symposia, advisory boards, and investigator meetings.

  • Interpret and report findings with recommendations for action to relevant internal partners.

2. Strategic evidence generation with broad product & Therapeutic Area knowledge

  • Leverages knowledge of standards of care, Janssen company-sponsored clinical trials/ investigator-initiated studies, and competitor landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication

  • Assess scientific/medical/ practical data gaps and generate key research questions with prioritizing to propose data generating strategy

  • Address and manage Investigator-initiated studies upon an external request

  • Engages with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and acts as liaison to R&D, Clinical Research (CR), and Operation teams (MAO/GCO).

  • Provide clinical trial support to identify potential sites, resolve issues with enrolled sites, and participate in meetings as appropriate, including site initiation visits and investigator meetings upon a request.

  • Conduct scientific exchange with the community and institutional HCPs, and respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of Health Care Providers (HCPs)/investigators integrating scientific data including real-world evidence in to real life practice to meet customer needs

3. Cross-functional Collaboration & Teaming

  • Collect and provide meaningful medical insights back to the medical and commercial organizations to be actioned in support of the strategy development.

  • Support the initial and ongoing medical/scientific area and product-specific training and provide key scientific updates to internal stakeholders, as necessary and appropriate (e.g. Commercial, Regulatory, Market Access, Medical Affairs, GCO/MAO, etc.).

4. Strong Scientific/Business acumen & effectiveness

  • Consistently develop scientific/medical knowledge and business acumen by self-driven learnings

  • Maintains in-depth scientific and therapeutic knowledge, including Janssen and competitive products as well as disease states including standard of care

  • Sets aside time for self-driven learnings on the current scientific landscape

  • Attends scientific conferences to gather and understand new scientific information relevant to the company and the external scientific community

  • Consistently leads one or more scientific or strategic projects that elevate acumen or increase visibility

5. Support pharmacovigilance and Health Economics with medical input as appropriate

[Qualifications:]

  • Education:

  • Relevant science background (e.g., medicine, pharmacy, life science, etc)

  • Advanced degree in Master of Science and above (PhD, MD, or PharmD) is preferred

  • Experience and Skills:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as field medical of pharmaceutical companies is preferred.

  • Previous experience of medical role in oncology-related TA in the global pharma industry is highly preferred.

  • In-depth scientific and/or therapeutic knowledge, strength in research and interpretation of scientific publications

  • Knowledge for research, clinical trial design, and process

  • Knowledge of national healthcare and access system

  • Excellent English language skills, spoken and written

  • Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a broad range of external and internal personnel.

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Awareness of, and adherence to, Johnson & Johnson Credo values and International Health Care Business Integrity Guide

Domestic and International travels are required.
