As part of our ongoing commitment to product stewardship, our Toxicology and Environmental Research and Consulting Department is seeking an experiencedExposure Scientist/ Human Health Risk Assessorto evaluate human and environmental exposures to Dow products. You will join a multidisciplinary and multicultural team within one of the most prestigious toxicology units in the chemical industry, known for its long history and scientific excellence. The successful candidate will provide exposure assessment expertise to a wide range of business units within Dow to support their product stewardship and global product registration activities.

The preferred location for this position is one of the Dow sites in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy or Spain. Virtual location in any member state of the European Union, the UK or Turkey will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct human health and environmental exposure assessments for development of sustainable products and manufacturing processes.

  • Support EU REACH and other chemical regulatory programs by exposure assessment.

  • Provide leadership in risk assessment science research of interest to Dow businesses, particularly sustainability initiatives such as Safe and Sustainable by Design.

  • Interface with government agencies and policy makers.

  • Interact with various industry trade associations.

  • Provide consultation to Dow businesses and manufacturing operations on human health risk management topics.

  • The presentation of scientific research at technical symposia and in peer-reviewed publications is expected in this role.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline is required, Ph.D. is preferred (exposure science, risk assessment, industrial hygiene, biostatistics, toxicology, environmental science).

  • At least 5 years of experience performing exposure calculations for EU REACH and US EPA TSCA and other regulatory programs is preferred.

  • In addition to advanced mathematical skills, knowledge of physio-chemical, environmental fate and transport modeling/partitioning is beneficial.

  • Strong English language skills, both written and oral, are required to enable the dissemination of complex technical issues in a clear, concise manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

  • Effective interpersonal and intercultural communication skills are an important competency.

  • A team player who is a self-motivated quick learner with the ability to prioritize and think strategically.
