State and Local Tax Associate - Seattle, WA
Description : Fox Rothschild LLP has an opening in Seattle, WA for an associate to join our growing state and local taxation (SALT) team. This position encompasses both tax controversy matters and business advice and counseling. The tax controversy matters include representing our clients in administrative and court proceedings across Washington state and elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest. The ideal candidate will have two to four years of experience. We are not currently accepting resumes from search firms for this position.
Qualifications : Juris Doctorate (JD) required. LL.M. in Taxation preferred. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Washington.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
Strong academic record and excellent written and oral communication skills required.
The candidate must have experience litigating civil matters in administrative or court proceedings in Washington (preferably commercial disputes), including experience with discovery, motions practice and pretrial preparation. Subject matter knowledge of state and local taxation (e.g., Washington business and occupation (B&O) tax, sales and use tax, and property tax), and ability to analyze commercial valuation and financial data is preferred but not essential.

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Visual Acuity
Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Compensation & Benefits :
The salary range for this position applies to Washington. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $180,000 - $215,000.
