We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to provide the vision to define and design Alexa intelligent assistant experiences. In this role, you will make a significant impact on our business by delivering customer-focused solutions at scale. The ideal candidate must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. You should be comfortable leading projects forward in the face of ambiguity. From day one, you will play an integral role in defining problems, driving alignment around key customer experience outcomes, building workflows, creating and testing low-fidelity prototypes, and designing delightful, highly-usable digital experiences. The ability to drive the entire UX process from concept to implementation, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and adapt quickly to changing priorities is essential. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, along with a portfolio showcasing successful, user-centered designs, are required. Key job responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design process, from problem definition to delivery.

  • Use business requirements, customer and market research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases and high-level requirements to shape product strategy.

  • Design the information architecture, interface and interaction flows for Alexa agent experiences

  • Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, detailed user-interface specifications and design patterns

  • Develop and maintain documentation of customer behaviors, motivations, and daily habits.

  • Work with program managers to plan projects for effective delivery while maintaining high standards for design

  • Write effectively to communicate design rationales and benefits to Amazon customers

  • Use analytics and data to drive design decision making to best serve our customers

  • Guide a cross-functional team and elevate the culture of UX thinking and design excellence

A day in the life

In this highly visible role, you will work on some of the most challenging opportunities at Amazon today. You will use business requirements as well as user and market research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with a team of world-class multi-disciplinary designers, researchers, engineers, data scientists, product managers and executives. You will communicate design thinking and drive design decisions with senior leadership, engineering and product partners in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

You will join a team of world-class designers working across devices to deliver exception customer experiences. Customer obsession is at the core of all of our design decisions. We dive deep with product managers, designers, and engineers from various domains to learn how they are serving their customers. We work cross-functionally to craft scalable, cohesive, and simple solutions for our customers. We take action, move quickly, take ownership and deliver results. Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of design experience

  • Have an available online portfolio

  • Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate, present, and drive alignment on design decisions

  • Experience in designing interactions for voice-led devices

  • Experience in designing for machine learning systems with probabilistic outputs

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment

  • Experience with multiple platforms and form factors, such as smartphone, tablet, multi-modal, and wearables

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
