Amazon Sr. Technical Program Manager, Build in Seattle, Washington

Are you passionate about innovating on behalf of builders at Amazon? We in Kindle Builder Services are looking for talented Technical Program Managers who want to lead and deliver cross cutting programs in one of the dynamic and fast moving spaces.

We are looking for passionate, hard-working, and talented program managers who have experience building mission-critical, high volume applications that customers love. You will have an chance to work with world-class engineers, product managers, business leaders, and other talented engineering teams as you focus on improving productivity of builders accelerating innovation.

Your primary focus will be delivering on key programs in the foundational build and developer experience landscape. You will be working with engineering teams across Kindle to drive consensus, help bring the best technical trends that improve developer experience for 1000s of engineers in Kindle. You will help deliver programs that save thousands of hours of productivity help Kindle lead the way across all of Amazon. You will have the opportunity to work across a large organization, solving problems at scale, and defining new technical approaches for data handling. This role is pivotal in driving projects that improve the scalability and efficiency of our software build environments, directly impacting the development lifecycle and productivity of our global developer teams.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Own a complex, cross-org programs that is transforming innovation within Kindle

  2. Drive alignment across senior leaders, create and maintain detailed work backward plans including resource allocation, timelines and risk management strategies

  3. Collaborate with TPMs and SDMs on roadmaps, priorities, Agile planning, dependency mapping, forecasting and tradeoffs

  4. Facilitate regular project meetings and provide updates to senior leadership on project status, milestones, and adjustments

  5. Engage with Sr. SDEs and Principal Engineers to evaluate technical designs

  6. Assess and implement new tools and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of the build environment

  7. Design scalable solutions that solve key business problems and contribute to scaling the business

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
