The Senior Product Manager - Tech for AWS Data Center Power Generation Infrastructure owns the successful delivery of the newest generations of data center energy innovations, and electrical power generation infrastructure technologies from concept to at-scale global implementation.

This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with advanced infrastructure solutions for HV/MV substations and the exceptional people that develop them.

Key job responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for delivering large-scale critical HV/ MV projects in partnership with our commercial energy and procurement teams globally under tight deadlines. Understanding of product development tied to HV/MV breakers, switchgear, transformers, circuit switching equipment, and associated controls is necessary to be successful in this role. Further, constructability and operation of HV/MV projects and how they inform product feature prioritization and standardization is critical to this role.

The ideal candidate for this role will understand the technical nature of HV /MV infrastructure projects including substations, understand national electric code, design of cables and overhead lines, with a minimum of 8+ years’ experience in delivering HV & MV infrastructure projects/programs from design to energization, and subsequent operation. Key expectations include:

• Defining success criteria, goals, and metrics for your product and partners

• Define product strategy and vision, and own the product life-cycle roadmaps for major equipment categories in partnership with OEMs

• Successfully advocate for optimized solutions across functions: Engineering, Design, Suppliers, Procurement and other relevant orgs

• Develop insights from data that inform future requirements

• Operate as SME within wider GFP org for supply risks and insights and specific product requirements

• Develop mechanisms that enable rapid scaling of solutions

• Develop detailed, crisp business requirements and use cases to create product and solution strategies

• Deliver regular reviews to leaders across all levels of the leadership organization and foster a shared understanding of your products, solutions, and strategies

• Develop and drive the 3–5-year road map of the product optimizing for OEM capabilities/constraints, industry trends, and programmatic requirements

The candidate will have strong ownership over portfolio strategy, product definition, feature prioritization, messaging aligned to our customer needs. This is a high visibility and high impact role that will interact with all levels of AWS leadership.

Amazon has a global presence; therefore 25% travel will be necessary. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel will be necessary. Support could consist of working on international teams and could require developing engineering deliverables and design document packages. An understanding of international electrical design requirements is preferable.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience managing technical products or online services

  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

  • 7+ years of end to end product delivery experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or electrical engineering

  • Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools

  • Detailed understanding of critical LV, MV and HV electrical equipment and of relays, protections schemes, high-voltage circuit breakers, power and distribution transformers electrical switchgear, grounding and earthing.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
