The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is part of AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS), which is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. We work backwards from our customer’s most complex and business critical problems to build and execute go-to-market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses. WWSO teams include business development, specialist and technical solutions architecture. As part of WWSO, you'll provide expertise across the entire life cycle of an AWS customer initiative, from developing ideas for new services to accelerating the adoption of established businesses. The WWSO Efficient Compute team positions AWS as the best place to run workloads that are time shiftable, shapable and instance flexible on Graviton and EC2 Spot instances. As a solution architect this position will focus on working with customers North America from the Telco, Media & Entertainment, Gaming, and Spots segments. Our team helps customers determine how to best leverage these services with ASGs for workloads consisting of rendering, customer game platforms, containers, Karpenter, big data processing and analytics with EMR or partner solutions, all with the confidence that the AWS cloud provides a secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure for customers to innovate and unlock new potential. As a the technical lead in your part of the business, Efficient Compute, you will collaborate with a business developer to create scaled GTM motions for Graviton and Spot to expand adoption of these services into new or existing customer portfolios.

Key job responsibilities

Represent the voice of the customer; collaborate with field and central teams to bring customer feedback to product teams. Lead curation of custom feature and availability requests for unique customer use cases.

Provide advanced technical knowledge to your aligned GTM teams to unblock our customers’ largest and most critical business challenges.

Along with your extended team, own the technical bar for specialist technical artifacts and standards.

Collaborate with your GTM colleagues to provide technical insights into GTM strategy and support field marketing to execute local technical events, campaigns, and customer engagements.

Act as a thought leader sharing best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re: Invent, etc.

Guide and Support an AWS internal community of technical subject matter experts aligned to your customers. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population to help them understand how to integrate new AWS solutions into customer architectures

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years design/implementation/consulting experience of highly technical nature.

  • 5+ years management of technical, customer facing resources or field resources.

  • 5+ years of Autoscaling Groups (ASGs), EC2 Spot Instances, Graviton, large scale data processing, rendering farms and grid computing, job schedulers, containers and open source Kubernetes projects such as Karpenter, and ISV software that take advantage of all of the above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises.

  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.

  • Familiarity with common enterprise services and working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers.

  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries.

  • AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise.

  • Computer Science /relevant degree and/or experience highly desired.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
