Amazon Sr Financial Analyst, Buyer Risk Prevention - Bad Debt in Seattle, Washington

The Buyer Risk Prevention (BRP) organization is looking for a Financial Analyst to support Buyer Bad Debt Reporting. BRP’s mission is to ensure customers and Amazon get the benefits of best-in-class fraud/abuse rates and industry leading risk management practices; customers implicitly trusting our stores and our brand, and explicitly appreciative when we intervene to protect them.

We are organized around four key areas we address and prevent risk: (1) Preventing bad actors from creating or compromising accounts (Account Integrity), (2) Preventing fraudulent orders (Payment Risk), (3) Preventing violations and abuse of our policies (Buyer Abuse), and (4) Growing the business by managing financial regulation compliance risk (Risk and Compliance Solutions). This role would support the Payment Risk team who manages buyer bad debt.

The Sr Financial Analyst will be a key player in providing financial insights to business leaders within the BRP Payment Risk team and partner closely with business leaders, other Finance teams, and Accounting. The role includes month end close activities and reconciliations, controllership, forecasting and budgeting responsibilities, and weekly business reporting for business partners.

The role includes opportunities for complex model creation, large data analysis, as well as automation of reports and processes. The candidate will need experience with working with large data sets and the ability to work across teams to deliver results. The right individual should possess solid business judgment and be capable of working independently to drive results, and be able to work collaboratively with multiple finance and business teams. It will be expected that the candidate can identify issues by diving deep and working with technical teams to pinpoint root causes, drive closure, and implement solutions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Month end close and variance analysis

  • Prepare quarterly forecasting of buyer bad debt, working closely with business teams

  • Prepare reconciliations of bad debt data

  • Provide insights to the business on bad debt trends or differences between operational and financial data

  • Work with Accounting, Tax, and other Finance teams to resolve issues, prepare analyses and commentary on bad debt trends.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
