Our Shopping Conversation Foundations (SCF) organization is dedicated to revolutionizing the way customers interact with our products and services through cutting-edge conversational experiences powered by generative AI. Of interest, our team provides the following foundational capabilities for Rufus, Search, and Alexa Shopping businesses: (1) Up-to-date Shopping Data for LLM inferencing (2) Automated Quality Evaluations and Root Cause Analysis.

We do this by building multi-tenant, scalable, and extensible solutions that leverage AWS services, large language models and generative AI to automate the creation of high quality upto date datasets and for answer evaluation. Our primary focus so far has been Rufus, but the primitive capabilities extend to other LLMs/use cases.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Your scope will include underlying services that offer upto date high quality shopping datasets, to be used by LLMs during inference.

  2. You will also be working on offering extensible offerings to enable multiple teams to leverage our science based product offerings.

  3. You will be working closely with our product, science, and engineering leaders to drive the technical vision and roadmap.

  4. You will lead a talented engineering team, hire, mentor and inspire a vision that solves critical customer problems and propels Amazon solutions in this important area.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience in building generative AI applications or leveraging LLM data-sets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
