Amazon Software Development Engineer, Location, Strategy & Analytics in Seattle, Washington

As a Software Development Engineer, you'll collaborate with engineers, scientists, and product teams to build scalable infrastructure and innovative solutions.

Technology Stack:

  • Design and implement complex, large-scale systems, including data lakes and chatbots

  • Evaluate and guide current and future technology choices

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development

  • Work with a high degree of independence to deliver high quality solutions

Key job responsibilities

  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to industry best practices

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers

  • Actively engage and participate in software architecture and design reviews

  • Oversee and continually improve production operations, including optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, code deployments, bug fixes and overall release management and coordination.

  • Work closely with Product teams, Scientists and engineers to explore new solutions and improve existing ones.

  • Design and develop full stack solutions from front end to back end

  • Collaborating with peer engineers, scientists, economists and location analysts, product/program managers

  • Collaborating with to product managers on future vision of our products build data products

  • Invest time in learning new technologies.

  • Play a key role in the technology that will power Amazon's physical store growth.

Our vision is to be the world’s leading science, engineering, and analytics provider, coupled with expert knowledge, supporting Amazon Physical Stores. We strive to build a best-in-class network of experiences across all banners, formats and channels within the WW Grocery Stores portfolio.

Our mission is to deliver products, services and data capabilities leveraging cutting edge science and technology to increase long-term free cash flow for WW Grocery stores. We optimize decisions that require spatial analysis, including site selection, portfolio optimization, long-term topology planning, and macro space planning within stores. We tackle problems holistically, and combine data, applications, and business judgment in our solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
