Job Information
Amazon Software Development Engineer, Identity Analytics Platform in Seattle, Washington
Description
AWS has the most services and more features within those services, than any other cloud provider–from infrastructure technologies like compute, storage, and databases–to emerging technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, data lakes and analytics, and Internet of Things. AWS Platform is the glue that holds the AWS ecosystem together. Whether its Identity features such as access management and sign on, cryptography, console, builder & developer tools, and even projects like automating all of our contractual billing systems, AWS Platform is always innovating with the customer in mind. The AWS Platform team sustains over 750 million transactions per second.
AWS Identity enables customers to manage authentication, authorization, and governance in the AWS Cloud. These services enable customers to securely manage and audit access to their AWS accounts and infrastructure anywhere along their AWS Cloud journey. With AWS, customers can use purpose-built identity, directory, and access services to help them easily and securely migrate existing workloads to the AWS Cloud and build new cloud-native applications.
We own and develop Identity Analytics platform to automatically process and handle large volumes of data coming from all of Identity services to generate business metrics that can be easily consumed by services and leadership. The data from our platform is used to understand service usage patterns by our customers, build product roadmaps, security audit on IAM policy data and make business critical decisions.
In this role, you will:
Be building/using Bigdata solutions like EMR, Hadoop, Spark, AWS Glue, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift.
Have full stack development experience covering databases, APIs and frontend (React)
Have a significant bottom-line impact on our business by building business critical data solutions.
Identify and build key features in our platform that can help customers onboard faster.
Drive operational excellence by constantly improving our systems, monitoring, processes...
Be responsible for solving challenges surrounding efficient operations and failure mode in large complex distributed systems.

A day in the life
Platform development: We have active development projects related to improving stability of the platform and making the platform fully self service. Each member of the team owns tasks or projects depending on their interests.
Customer onboarding: Identity teams use BusinessMetrics platform to process their service data, extract relevant info and load metrics into Data warehouse. While we are working on making service fully self service, we do have requests which require code changes which include schema definitions, allowed listing accounts, defining queries etc. The requests come as tickets and the work load is distributed to each one or through oncall.
About the team
BusinessMetrics team works closely with Identity Product Managers to identify the metrics that add value to the business and ensure that the platform we develop can be used to track and report business metrics safely and reliably. As there are wide range of data sources that include S3, DynamoDB, Databases, Cloudwatch logs, Timber logs and Kinesis streams and as the data can be huge, we expect the platform to scale up to the needs without failing during processing. Our goal is to make the platform fully self service such that it can be used by our customer independently
