As a Software Development Engineer on the Selection & Catalog Systems team, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and developing the cutting-edge tools, systems, and services that propel Amazon's rapidly expanding product assortment.

Tackle challenging technical problems, such as extracting structured data from unstructured content, automating data and item classification, implementing fuzzy image comparison, creating big data visualizations, and harnessing data analytics. Gain invaluable experience in designing and developing massively distributed systems, big data platforms, Large Language Model(LLM) based solutions and web services, while pushing the boundaries of "textbook solutions." Leverage technologies like NoSQL databases, Java, Elastic Computing, and Machine Learning to drive your innovations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing full-stack solutions using large language models and advanced AI/ML techniques to automatically extract and expose product attribute knowledge

  • Designing highly scalable, distributed systems capable of handling billions of records at low latencies

  • Leveraging data analytics and machine learning to uncover insights from massive product data

  • Optimizing the product catalog to enhance shopping experiences through improved query understanding, price comparison, and more

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of 3+ years in distributed systems design and implementation, as well as a passion for delivering high-quality software in an agile/continuous environment. Key job responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build LLM based scalable, efficient, and automated knowledge discovery systems

Analyze and process large amounts of data to extract valuable information from various sources (e.g. product catalog, search queries ...)

Actively participate in idea and roadmap generation.

Effectively present work to all levels of the leadership.

Be an effective collaborator in a cross-functional team of SDEs, Technical Program Managers, and Product Managers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
