We are seeking a talented and resourceful Software Development Engineer (SDE-II) to join our Selection & Catalog Systems team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in crafting cutting-edge solutions that fuel the expansion of our extensive product catalog and enable seamless product discovery for customers globally.

You will span a diverse range of technical challenges including 1) Develop robust mechanisms to seamlessly inherit the catalog attribute standards from centralized systems 2) Implement sophisticated algorithms to ensure consistency in product data across all our global marketplaces and enabling a unified customer experience 3) Innovative solution for image comparison and recognition solutions, ensuring accurate product identification 4) Design creative solutions to validate the product data and provide first class product data to customers 5) Continous feedback mechanism on validation processing enabling us to continuously expand

the product data validation integrating with external sources 6) Develop scalable mechanisms to help sellers address the product data quality issues

Throughout your journey, you will gain exposure to a diverse technology stack, including NoSQL databases, Java, cloud computing platforms, and machine learning frameworks. Collaborating with seasoned engineers and technical leaders, you will work on high-impact initiatives that directly shape the shopping experience for Amazon customers worldwide

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of 3+ years in distributed systems design and implementation, as well as a passion for delivering high-quality software in an agile/continuous environment. Key job responsibilities

  1. Spearhead the development of a groundbreaking validation framework and service designed to proactively detect and prevent data quality issues across our vast product catalog

  2. Build sophisticated algorithms integrating with AI/ML science models to perform deterministic and probablistic validation at scale

  3. Create innovative, low latency and high performance probablistic validation solutions to achieve high correctness across the textual, numeric, image attributes

  4. Develop Insights framework that harnesses the power of service logs and metrics to continuously expand and refine our validation guardrails

  5. Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop E2E solution for product data validation and surface actionable feedback to sellers

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • 2+ experience in designing and developing large-scale, distributed systems and microservices architectures

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in an agile, fast-paced environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
