$5,000 Sign-On Bonus to eligible new employees joining UW Medicine Harborview Medical Center – Social Work has an outstanding opportunity for a Social Work Supervisor within the Inpatient Psychiatry Department .

WORK SCHEDULE • 40 hours per week • Day Shift

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS This position will provide supervision of and provision of direct social work services to patients of all ages and their families within the Inpatient Psychiatry unit and implement the full range of social work clinical procedures for patients. Social work interventions may include: • Comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment and treatment planning • Crisis intervention, including locating legal next of kin • Complex discharge planning • Extensive Behavioral health resource coordination for all levels of care • Coordinate care for patients committed under involuntary treatment act • Child abuse and vulnerable population intervention and referral • Domestic violence intervention and referral

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide direct social work services as back up to staff as needed. This includes implementing the full range of social work clinical protocols for patients • Have advanced knowledge of HMC/Social Work Department policies relevant to delivery of services to patients as well as knowledge of legal requirements for ITA psychiatric patients and vulnerable populations • Documentation and verbal communication of social work activities provided to patients and their families or support system, requiring knowledge of legal intervention options and processes, and of community resources that are relevant to the population of assigned service(s) • Knowledge of discharge planning, knowledge of psychiatric and physiological components of illnesses, basic medical terminology and procedures that are performed in the service areas, knowledge of and implementation of social work policies and procedures • As a trainer and supervisor, teach and model being an essential member of an interdisciplinary team, attend team rounds or meetings, respond to requests for social work intervention, demonstrate professional competence, maintain a positive working relationship, consult on legal and systems and resource issues • Provide leadership to social work team, contribute to effective team functioning and provide support to staff as needed

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education AND four years of full-time professional social work experience. Two years of this experience must have been in a health care setting OR equivalent education/experience.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington: • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
