Amazon Senior User Experience Designer, North America Stores Design in Seattle, Washington

Description

In Amazon North America Stores (NAS) Design, we’re striving to make Amazon a shopping destination that is fun, helpful, and personalized, not just a place to buy stuff. If you excel at designing product and service experiences, please consider joining us on this journey. The Amazon Consumer Electronics UX (CEUX) team within NAS Design is dedicated to being the beacon of design excellence within the complex, technical, and high consideration space where all of your favorite electronics devices, their accessories, and cutting-edge shopping technology meet. Our aim is to provide simple, fluid, and beautiful experiences that accommodate our growing and diverse selection, while enabling customers to make confident buying decisions and delighting them along the way.

We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to conceive of, plan, lead, and execute new shopping experiences for Consumer Electronics that eliminate customers’ biggest barriers to purchasing cell phones, digital cameras, laptops, computers, TVs and other electronic devices, accessories and services. Confidence finding the right product and model, personalized recommendations based on devices you own, budget preferences, and fun moments of discovery are examples of outcomes we’re striving to achieve for our customers. This role will work at the intersection of customer data, computer vision and machine learning models, leveraging deep personalization to design elegant solutions to customer needs in the technical products space.

Because the scope of this position will extend across a number of programs, the ability to balance high-level, holistic reasoning with detail-oriented feature design is imperative.

You would be perfect for this role if:

  • You’re a systems oriented design thinker who envisions and crafts holistic solutions for your users that span the entire customer journey.

  • You see patterns and connect dots as part of your daily process.

  • You are passionate about working strategically with internal and external executives and other senior leaders to create and deliver visionary and customer-focused solutions.

  • You design experiences that visually provoke and captivate.

  • You are an empathic teammate who flourishes when collaborating closely with other disciplines and partners.

  • You are a self-starter who thrives on ambiguity and is comfortable wearing many hats.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop and socialize experiences that drive engagement and excitement throughout the organization - working closely with partners in research, design and product management across Amazon.

  • Analyze customer behaviors, identify opportunities to solve problems, and create cohesive, best-in-class experiences to our most challenging and high impact areas.

  • Contribute to the architecture of near and long term user experience visions for features and product lines across applicable devices and locales.

  • Create frameworks, conceptual diagrams, user flows, wireframes, detailed visual mockups, and prototypes to communicate high-level design strategies.

  • Responsibly and effectively advocate for the customer in a corporate environment; fostering a shared understanding of the customer-centric intersection between design, technology and business.

  • Deliver high quality creative products while insisting on high standards and attention to detail.

  • Present to business, design, and executive-level leadership and support your design rationale using quantitative data and site metrics, customer feedback, and usability findings.

  • Help nurture a thriving design culture.

A day in the life

Working with cross-functional and cross-organizational partners, senior UX designers define, prototype, and evolve the customer journeys, interaction flows, UX architecture, and design patterns for multiple end-to-end retail experiences. They embrace the challenges of designing for a highly complex and rapidly changing space, while tirelessly advocating on behalf of our customers. Be prepared to work side-by-side with product and engineering partners to define the optimal experience. This is a great role for a big owner who sees ambiguity as an opportunity.

About the team

The Consumer Electronics UX team is innovating on behalf of our customers and creating new ways to build amazing retail experiences - on and off of Amazon. We get to think across the entire shopping journey, from awareness and consideration through purchase and ownership. We experiment with new technology like AI, immersive experiences and machine learning, to think big about new ways to solve customer problems. We think globally and work with other Amazon teams around the world to create inclusive, best-in-class interfaces. Finally, we get to work with and design for some of the biggest and most interesting brands on Amazon. Pick your favorite piece of tech - we're probably working directly with them to make Amazon the best place to buy their products.

The CEUX team also generates new ideas and acts with autonomy. See a big customer problem? Run a workshop, do some research, prototype a solution. If you want to take it farther, we’ve got a process to turn it into a real project at Amazon, and our team has experience turning those big ideas into reality.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Seattle, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications
