Amazon Senior Technical Program Manager, Managed Compute Runtimes in Seattle, Washington

Amazon’s Center of Excellence for Orchestration (ORCA) in eCF Dev Productivity group is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead the development of Amazon's next generation Orchestration/Compute platforms used to implement and drive distributed processes and systems for various Amazon's business including Amazon retail websites, Kindle, Amazon instant video, Amazon subsidiaries and more.

As a Program Manager you will be responsible for leading a group of software engineers to deliver and maintain the technology behind the multi-tenant hosted workflow management platform that powers thousands of mission-critical workflow applications across Amazon's businesses, and innovate on behalf of Amazon businesses to redefine how broader compute and orchestration use cases are designed, implemented, and operated.

As the ideal candidate you will be experienced in managing and driving large programs of varied customer base, multi-discipline, multi-site organization of software engineers, and technical program managers. You will have a proven track record of shipping complex software solutions through an agile methodology. You will have the ability to dive deep into the understanding of problems in order to help your team make the right technical decisions for the product and the business. You will have a proven track record of managing and developing the career of your direct report. You will also be a strong communicator and will have proven abilities in managing through ambiguous situations.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

+Drive the program delivery and operations for agile process and team coordinations.

+Drive the business metrics of Orchestration system, analyze error patterns and triage bugs, prioritize remediation, drive data driven behavior changes to reduce the operational overheads.

+Drive communication and lead meetings with customers and executives, collect feedback and follow through on action items and accords.

+Drive automation and standardization of processes for analyzing, building and deploying Orchestration solutions across the customer base.

+Drive and coordinate the development of new features and manage delivery schedules across the streams.

+Coordinate product launches and customer communications, feedback, onboarding, upgrade and follow through on the action items and accords.

+Regularly reports on projects' status and ensures team is on-track to deliver projects on-time, highlighting risks and escalating when needed.

+Coordinate with Customers(potential & existing) to educate and drive adoptions

  • Work effectively with other stakeholders to set clear expectations and implement mechanisms for progress and issue tracking.

+Divide and conquer -- establish incremental milestones for large impact, high risk, multi-year programs with the ability for successful execution for each.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
