Amazon Pharmacy is seeking an industry proven and detail-oriented Pharmacy Process Engineer to support the Pharmacy Fulfillment Engineering team. As a process engineer, you will act as an operational leader to drive process stabilization, standardization, and continuous improvement for the pharmacy fulfillment center network. Your role is essential to establish best in class network performance across all process paths, accelerate implementation of technology advancements and to strengthen the technical acumen and process knowledge for the operational leaders across the FC network. You will utilize tools to understand process control and establish process understanding with the outcome of minimizing variation between shifts, building and region, by driving standard operating procedures to maximize efficiency and quality. You will also work closely with the Pharmacy Design Engineers to identify and define the key metrics for each of the process paths to prioritize and channel resources to address gaps in these key metrics. Your feedback based on process improvements tested and implemented in the field will be used to inform and improve future fulfillment center designs.

Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior process engineering experience. Our Pharmacy Process Engineers must be agile with the ability to quickly adapt strategies, plans, and solutions in response to dynamic business requirements. They also must be comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals at all levels of the organization.

Individuals can expect 25-50% travel (variable throughout the year) based on business needs at the time.

Key job responsibilities

• Evaluate performance objectives and metrics across the network to proactively identify process improvement opportunities

• Partner with operational leaders within the pharmacy fulfillment centers to execute implementation of process improvements driving stabilization and standardization across the network

• Provide feedback to the Pharmacy Design Engineers based on implemented process improvements and other tests to improve the design of future pharmacy fulfillment centers

• Deliver coaching and process path information across network of operational leaders in the FC’s to support reduction of variation in process standards and knowledge gaps within the FC network

• Identify, explore, evaluate, justify and realize solutions that add value by improving output quality, throughput rates, capacity, system utilization, and the reduction of waste

• Develop cross-functional knowledge of pharmacy operations systems, processes, procedures, and tools.

A day in the life

50% Support with Design Engineering partnering with design engineering to come up with optimal layout for our fulfillment sites, 50% Support on the field engineering, by leveraging lean methodologies and statistical tools to be able to objectively measure operational barriers and coach team to problem solve using six sigma techniques, as wel as influence design team for layout optimization

About the team

The Pharmacy Fulfillment Engineering team is a support team for Fulfillment Operations – we own the design of our pharmacy fulfillment centers (FC’s) and act as SME’s (subject matter experts) of the pharmacy automation equipment and fulfillment process. Pharmacy fulfillment team has 3 major functions, Design Engineering, Integration Engineering and Process Engineering.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects experience

  • Experience and strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment

  • Experience in Logistics, Distribution or Fulfillment processes

  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time to installation sites throughout North America

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field

  • Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineer tools

  • Experience working under pressure in a cross-functional organization

  • Experience in Simulation and optimization tools like FlexSim, SIMIO etc. for Discrete event

  • simulation and warehouse simulation modeling

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
