Nordstrom Senior Manager Business Operations - Inventory - HYBRID in Seattle, Washington

Job Description

The Senior Manager Business Management for Inventory is a critically important role, enabling the Inventory Leadership team to transform how we manage inventory, our largest investment as a company. This leader will drive strategic initiatives, internal communications and business operations for the Inventory team and at times, the broader Operations COE. This is a highly strategic and facilitative position that requires a combination of focus and flexibility, as well as a willingness to play an active, behind-the-scenes role. The role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation and an understanding of how to drive effectiveness and transformation at scale, and who can serve as trusted counsel to the SVP Inventory.

A day in the life....

Strategic Initiatives: Drive cross-cutting strategic initiatives and provide thought leadership. This includes identifying issues that impede business group success and provide solutions/recommendations. Create materials to drive decision making and alignment on strategic initiatives in both PowerPoint and Word narratives.

Problem solving: Take on key business questions and drive to recommendations and execution. This includes the ability to source and collect data, analyze or build models to interpret data, and drive to action, including the creation of materials to drive cross-functional leadership teams to make decisions.

Business Measurement: You will have accountability for tracking overall goals and KPIs for Inventory and leading the Inventory Portfolio governance process. This will include developing data and measurement standards, defining consistent measurement efforts that align to business outcomes and working with leaders to communicate progress.

Communications: Drive internal communications strategy, events and initiatives. Work with key partners such as HR, Internal Communications and business peers to deliver a communications plan with a heavy focus on strategic vision, priorities, change management, and employee engagement.

Leadership Effectiveness: Participate as a valued member of the Inventory leadership team and provide input to key strategic decisions. Assess current meetings and decision making forums and provide recommendations for increasing effectiveness and the appropriate sequence/cadence. Ensure preparation and agendas for Inventory meetings are understood so that meetings are highly productive and follow up/accountability measures are in place.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Communications Expertise: Is great at storytelling, strategy and execution across written, verbal and social mediums internally and externally. Experience creating executive leadership materials in both PowerPoint and Word narratives.

  • Strategic & analytical skills: Breadth in skillset to problem solve both strategic and analytical problems.

  • Brings People Together: Fosters a respectful, positive, transparent and collaborative environment. Displays humility, adaptability, unquestionable ethics & integrity. Is selfless in approach and lives the company values. Can handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Track Record of Success: Demonstrated ability to drive complex strategies and projects -exceeding expectations and delivering business results. Experience working on high profile projects with senior level executive visibility and engagement.

  • Solid Judgement & Instincts: Proven ability to make principled decisions under pressure and find the “right” path, particularly when there are different/competing points of view.

  • Comfortable managing ambiguity and uncertainty. Confidence to navigate a vast array of information and stakeholders. Identifies broad impact of decisions and implications for people and teams internally and externally.

You own this if you have...

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of related experience (e.g., strategy consulting, program management, merchandising/inventory/supply chain/operations).

  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated success in formulating strategy and guiding implementation.

  • Effective at driving complex multi-stakeholder processes and cross-team programs to desired results while managing risk.

  • Demonstrated strong capability in verbal and written communications skills for a large, multi-discipline organization.

  • Proficiency in telling the story through PowerPoint and Word narratives

  • Experience in data analytics and financial modeling is a plus

  • Ability to create effective relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $126,500 - $210,000 Annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
