We are looking for a Senior EHS Program Manager to join our Prime Air team and ensure the safety and compliance of our operations. You will partner with various stakeholders in Prime Air, such as site operations teams, Engineering, Legal, Human Resources, Ergonomics, Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), Environmental Program Managers and others, to execute safety policies and adhere to all applicable local, regional, and Amazon regulations. You will also lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce safety and ergonomic risk in our processes and create a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates.
As a Senior Program Manager, you will also communicate effectively and clearly with cross functional Teams and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in safety policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. You will identify best practices and incorporate them into our standards to continuously improve company safety policies. You will train and drive compliance at multiple locations.
You will support multiple projects at once and handle complexities and ambiguity. You will have a deep understanding of the particularities of the region you support and be able to make decisions with appropriate justification based on data, facts, or legislation. You will negotiate resources and priorities, escalate effectively, and find a path forward in difficult situations. You will deliver results independently and with limited guidance.
Key job responsibilities
-Develop and implement safety policies and procedures that comply with all applicable Amazon WHS Policies and local/regional regulations
-Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes and ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our associates
-Monitor and evaluate the safety performance of the Prime Air operations and identify areas for improvement and risk reduction
-Communicate effectively and collaboratively with various stakeholders in Prime Air, such as site operations teams, Engineering, Legal, Human Resources, and others, to provide comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis, influence change and promote a safety culture, execute the Safety Management System, report and communicate safety performance metrics, and give feedback and suggestions
-Train and coach Operations Leaders and associates on safety policies and best practices and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site
-Support multiple projects at once and handle complexities and ambiguity with minimal guidance
-Make data-driven and evidence-based decisions and justify them with appropriate rationale and documentation
-Conduct regular and comprehensive site WHS and safety audits to ensure accuracy and compliance of recordkeeping, workplace organization, associate behaviors, equipment, and processes to global WHS and safety standards and local regulations and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury at all sites
-Assist in the investigation of the root cause Health and Safety issues put forward by Prime Air employees
-Support new launch sites including initial site inspections, identifying accountability, purchasing and site readiness review
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of program or project management experience
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
Bachelor’s degree in safety management or a related field
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Safety Management Specialist (SMS) certification or equivalent
Experience in conducting risk assessments and root cause analysis
Experience with ISO 12100 - Safety of Machinery and IEC 31010 - Risk management - Risk Assessment Techniques; and OSHA CFR 29 1910
Experience in implementing safety policies and procedures
Experience in working with cross functional teams and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a safety and health field
10+ years of experience in safety programs in distribution center or manufacturing settings
Minimum of five years of safety experience in the aviation, oil and gas, safety automation, safety engineering
Experience in leading change in multiple site environment
Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization
Ability to develop and implement regional goals and strategies based on broader organization goals
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site leaders, Directors and VPs
Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
