Description Milliman SkySail is looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team. Your primary role will be to manage and improve our data processing workflows and systems built on top of the Databricks platform. Milliman Skysail is a consulting and software-as-a-service (SaaS) unit of Milliman that leads the way in pharmacy claims analysis and reporting. SkySail Rx was founded in 2015 and acquired by Milliman in 2021. We are a fast-growing team of around fifty expert individual contributors. We specialize in analyzing pharmaceutical claims, data engineering, and application development. We place a strong emphasis on individual contribution and continuous learning. By joining our data engineering team as a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our data platform, focusing on building on top of the Databricks platform using technologies such as Spark, Python, and SQL. Collaborating closely with data analysts, application developers, and the other members of our Data Platform team, you will help build robust, scalable data solutions, ensuring efficient data processing and analysis. Your expertise will be key in driving our data strategy, supporting the delivery of industry-leading services and products, and maintaining the highest standards of data quality, security, and integrity across our data initiatives. Job Responsibilities What you'll do as a Senior Data Platform Engineer at Milliman SkySail Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable data processing workflows and systems on the Databricks platform, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end and data analyst teams. Develop and optimize data pipelines using Spark, Python, and SQL, incorporating best practices to handle large-scale data efficiently. Leverage cloud platforms like AWS and Azure to architect and deploy cloud-native data solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security in data storage, processing, and analytics capabilities Collaborate with data analysts, application developers, and other data engineering team members to integrate systems and streamline data flow, enhancing data quality and accessibility. Monitor data platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure system stability and reliability. Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical specifications, ensuring the data platform supports the delivery of industry-leading services and products. Participate in peer review processes, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve the quality and efficiency of data solutions.
