We are seeking a. hands-on senior data engineer to join the App Store Analytics engineering team focused on advertising solutions to help drive app discoverability. In this role, you will be part of analytics team working with product, privacy, cross functional engineering teams to drive creation of innovative privacy preserving solutions that deliver on Apple’s privacy vision.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of programming experience in Scala (preferred) or Java

  • Experience in delivering privacy preserving solutions in any domain, ads domain would be a plus.

  • Knowledge of privacy enhancing techniques such as anonymization, aggregation, multi-party compute, differential privacy

  • Hands-on experience building distributed data processing applications using Apache Spark or Apache Flink, Kafka, Iceberg, Kubernetes & Cassandra or similar technologies

  • Deep understanding of data, SQL and data analysis and visualization to drive insights for product and engineering decisions

  • Understanding of functional programming ideas and principles.

  • Proven record of in influencing and collaborating to solve open and ambiguous problems.

  • Proven record in design, implementation and launching complex, resilient, reliable and scalable technical solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate data driven designs clearly to diverse audiences including leadership updates.

  • Self-directed, self-motivated and ability to create architecture and design documents.

Description

In this role, you will be part of a team that will collaboratively ideate to solve novel problems in area of ads measurement. You will independently bring data driven technical solution to the team. You will communicate the solution in a way that synthesizes user, product and privacy impact clearly. You will be an individual contributor to implement the designs to a scalable, high quality observable set of pipelines and services. You will lean into and pick up new technologies as driven by needs of the project. You will partner with program teams to plan and execute sprint goals. The ideal candidate will mentor engineers, share industry knowledge and contribute to building team’s expertise in applying new privacy techniques. You will be part of a collaborative, supportive team that will embrace challenges and value humility, honesty and dedication to each other's growth.

Education & Experience

Bachelors in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or equivalent work experience. Master's preferred.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $189,800.00 and $284,900.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
