Amazon Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, PLX Finance BI in Seattle, Washington

Prime Global Finance enjoys a unique vantage point into everything happening within Amazon. This Sr. BIE role will be part of a team that is responsible for managing the data stores and generating data insights across two of the most impactful and high visibility areas within Amazon: Prime and Lifecycle Engagement.

The Sr. BIE will partner with teams across finance, marketing, research etc. to design and develop processes enabling insightful analysis of the business for key stakeholders across the entire Prime and Lifecycle Engagement organizations. You will push traditionally accepted process boundaries and work to automate scalable solutions leveraging AWS and BI tools including but not limited to Tableau, QuickSight, Shiny, etc.

The data flowing through our platform directly contributes to decision-making by WW Prime and Lifecycle Engagement leaders at all levels of organizational leadership. Responsibilities of this position include:

· Develop data collection, storage and processing models, including sourcing, loading, transformation and extraction.

· Participate in cross-functional requirements gathering collaborations to ensure data and business intelligence solutions address and anticipate business needs and resolve challenges.

· Ensure engineering solutions entail scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, and dashboards that effectively support analytical and business needs for business decisions.

· Apply analytical, statistical, mathematical and other quantitative principles and techniques in solution design and development to ensure solutions are robust, scalable and adaptable.

· Develop, test and implement queries and visualizations reporting and ad-hoc requests and projects.

· Use analytical/statistical/visualization techniques to solve complex problems and drive business decisions using statistical tools such as R, SAS, STATA and/or SPSS.

· Contribute to automation of data gathering and processing and solution development processes by developing deep-dive tools, UIs, metrics, and dashboards to communicate insights in real time to business team.

· Leverage data to demonstrate gaps that leave business vulnerable.

· Provide insights to operational issues, analyze root cause, and provide recommendations for improvement.

· Effectively communicate findings to senior management.

· Partnering with our Data Engineers to enhance data infrastructure, data availability, and broad access to customer insights made available through BI tools.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

  • Experience with statistical analytics and programming languages such as R, Python, Ruby, etc.

  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
