Our team includes people from a variety of architectural, engineering and security backgrounds who work together on a wide range of project types including education facilities, office buildings, transit infrastructure, and sports facilities. You'll join a team that is always learning and adapting as we perform risk assessments and advise architects and owners on improving the security of their designs and facilities. We have an opportunity for a Security Analyst to join our team to help develop agent-based simulations of crowd movement into, around, and out of buildings during normal and emergency operations. This role will be a key player in building our simulation capability connecting analysis outputs to the advanced visualization and computational design capabilities already present at Thornton Tomasetti. Responsibilities We will provide training to help you develop the following skills: * Performance of advanced numerical analysis in engineering problems including pedestrian dynamics, crowd movement and, as needed, computational fluid dynamics and structural analysis. * Development and optimization of analysis tools and workflows. * Support in the development of technical engineering reports and presentations for clients. * Support the team to perform risk assessments of existing or proposed facilities using industry standard threat, vulnerability, and risk assessment (TVRA) methods. Requirements * Undergraduate degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering or other building design disciplines. * 1+ years of professional work experience. * Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * A strong interest in security consulting as it relates to building and infrastructure design and construction. * A desire to become familiar with the relevant standards, best practices, and methodologies for protecting people in and around facilities. * Proficient in one or several of the following software tools: * MS Word, PowerPoint * Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino * Experience with a programming or scripting language (C#, Python, MATLAB, etc.) and/ or computational design tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper) is required. * Experience with Bentley LEGION, buildingEXODUS, Pathfinder, or other pedestrian modeling software is desirable. * This position requires the candidate to gain and hold US Security clearance. Compensation The rate for this position generally is$75,000-$85,000annually.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the Washington State Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful Washington State applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in Washington State or perform the position from Washington State.
