Blue Origin LLC Rocket Engines Principal Structural Analyst in Seattle, Washington

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you will help design and develop rocket engines and propulsion systems that meet Blue Origin's launch vehicle program requirements for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the structural analysis work of a rocket engine program and be subject matter expert for the discipline. Tasks will include providing guidance to design and structural analysis engineers to improve the performance of designs and developing Component Finite Element Models (FEM) based on interaction with the design and engine system analysis team. You will also perform classic hand calculations and FEM Simulations of rocket engine hardware including turbomachinery, manifolds, and thrust chambers, and use structural analysis methods to support test and failure investigations. Additional responsibilities include communicating analysis results to the team, peer review of analysis reports and overseeing junior engineers and contractors. You will be expected to drive or own process development of major portions of the discipline. Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering and 20+ years of experience in structural analysis utilizing FEM Must have experience with structural modeling of pressurized components, rocket engine hardware, or similar high performance hardware Excellent understanding of structural analysis/mechanics Ability to work effectively in teams Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time Ability to communicate analysis results effectively Experience with ANSYS Mechanical Knowledge of at least one programming/scripting language (Python/MATLAB/etc) Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum Compensation Range for: CA applicants is $162,465.75-$227,452.05;WA applicants is $162,465.75-$227,452.05 Other site ranges may differ Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
