The UW School of Pharmacy Department of PHARMACEUTICS has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist Engineer 4 to assist and lead research operation of the UW Targeted and Long-acting Combination Anti-Retroviral Therapeutic (TLC-ART) Program.

RES 4 duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Laboratory team management including supervision of lab leads and lab personnel (research staff, post-doctoral fellows, students, visiting scientists) • Coordinate and manage with the lab leads on activities including drug and formulation product research, development and analysis, and biochemical and biophysical as well as bioanalytical process analysis in the TLC-ART Program •Prepare reports and contribute to regulatory submissions to the FDA •Assist in grant writing activities •Design, plan, and coordinate animal studies for the TLC-ART Program •Write and maintain IACUC protocols •Perform routine analysis of data and assist with trouble shooting and daily quality control of data •Keep detailed records of procedures performed •Provide status reports to the Principal Investigator on status of projects and spending •Participate in TLC-ART program executive committee and leadership meetings •Basic lab maintenance and helping with lab paperwork and certifications •Serve as the coordinator for purchases of laboratory supplies •Attention to procedural detail and meticulous record-keeping •Perform related duties as required

Requirements:

  • PhD's or equivalent professional degree in biomedical and biophysical sciences (i.e., Pharmaceutical Sciences, biology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, or virology)

  • Expertise and 3-5 years of experience in biomedical research

  • Expertise in controlled experimental designs, bioanalytical assays and quantitative approach to data analysis, using the computer programs such as excel, prism

  • Prior experience with laboratory ordering and organization, managementEquivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration. Desired:

  • PhD with proven productivity in biomedical sciences preferred

  • Expertise and background in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, and bioanalytical assays including mass spectrometry, clinical pharmacology and toxicology

  • Experience with regulatory writing and submissions

  • Ability to work with investigators across disciplines
