UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Liver Donor Team. WORK SCHEDULE variable day shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to work with our liver care patients. The role of this nurse will focus on case management of patients in all phases throughout the continuum of Liver Care with a specific focus on liver transplant candidates.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Responsibilities include regulatory compliance, patient education, transplant work-up coordination, wait listing, managing chronic liver disease and pre transplant care. Requires two years current/recent transplant nursing experience, current BLS, experience with liver transplant patients preferred.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Provides expert programmatic specialty nursing care to living liver donors in the pre- and post donation stages of care, by maintaining:

  • Knowledge and care of living liver donors pre- and post-donation.

  • A close working relationship with the UW Living Liver team

  • Ability to interpret data about the patient’s health and donation in order to provide appropriate nursing care.

  • Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.

  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the transplant patient population.

  • Ability to interpret data about the patient’s status post-donation in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of current acute care transplant nursing experience in a variety of areas

  • Active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
