Amazon Quality Assurance Engineer II, Alexa Presentation in Seattle, Washington

Come help us add new presentation capabilities to Alexa devices. Our goal is make Alexa an instantly familiar personal assistant that is always ready to help or entertain on devices with screens. At the core of this vision is a close-knit team that’s dedicated to providing software developers and AI systems with the primitives, services, and tools they need to easily create engaging consumer experiences across an increasingly diverse set of Alexa devices with screens – including smart screens, mobile, desktop, TVs, and automobiles.

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will work closely with Product Management, Software Engineering, and User Experience design groups to understand product vision and customer use cases and translate them into test strategies. You will contribute to the team’s technical vision, toolchains, and roadmap, as well as execute tests against the plans you develop.

They are committed to creating world class feature and regression test automation frameworks to help teams scale. They are able to develop and drive test strategies and take a hands-on approach implementing and executing them.

Responsibilities:

• Work with business and development teams to understand product vision and requirements.

• Understand how elements of the software ecosystem work together and develop test approaches to fit the overall strategy.

• Responsible for developing test plans, creating appropriate test harnesses, executing tests, reporting, and supporting teams though defect resolution.

• Work with a team of quality engineering professions to test code at a user level – both manually and with automated tools - to ensure highest quality product delivery.

• Collaborate with peers to help drive the software development process toward quality-centric methodologies.

A day in the life

Our team uses black box, gray box, and white box testing techniques. Team members are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests and/or user-level test automation tools. Software QA Engineers work with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementations. You also work with groups such as Product Management, User Experience Design, and Customer Support to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and test suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience

  • Experience in manual testing

  • Experience in automation testing

  • Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with at least one automated test framework like Selenium or Appium

  • Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $102,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
