We are seeking an experienced structural engineer with a background in waterfront or offshore structures to support our ports, coastal, and offshore (PCO) practice. Candidates with a background in building or bridges that have an interest in applying their knowledge to a new area of interest are strongly encouraged to apply. Based in our Seattle office, you'll be part of a team that restores and protects coastal areas and habitats, improves coastal resiliency, develops port and harbor infrastructure, develops marinas, and supports offshore wind development. Typical projects include harbors and marina infrastructure condition assessments and design, offshore wind power development, marine terminal planning and design, civil engineering, and habitat/shoreline protection and stabilization. Working within the west coast practice and alongside our established PCO group, primary job responsibilities include: Assist with the management of projects that may include engineering analysis, preliminary and detailed design of marine structures, and structure condition assessments. Track project budgets and progress and regularly report to the project manager. Provide technical engineering analysis, design, and technical review of projects with a focus on marine structures in coastal, port, and water resource environments. Oversee the design of junior engineers and CAD technicians. Mentoring of junior engineers Write technical reports. Prepare drawings and technical specifications for construction. Prepare cost estimates on projects during the design phase. Assist in business development activities, including preparation of proposals. Collaborate with Mott MacDonald practices across North America and abroad Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field 5 years of structural engineering design experience in waterfront and offshore structures or buildings or bridges. Licensed Professional Engineer in WA, OR, or CA. Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including technical writing and presentation skills Desire to advance to project manager role. Familiarity with industry standard analysis, design, and project management software (e.g. SAP2000, LPile, MS Excel, MS Project, MathCAD, RISA) Demonstrated experience with condition assessment of timber, reinforced concrete, or steel structures. Preferred Requirements: 7-10 years of structural engineering design experience in waterfront and offshore structures. Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field Performance-based seismic assessment and design of structures.
