Insight Global PMO Director in Seattle, Washington

Job Description

This Project Management Office within a large research university provides, project, program and portfolio management, tools and infrastructure to support resiliency, enterprise architecture services, and cloud computing. This team will be moving towards an enterprise PMO in the near future and need a proven leader to take them to the next level. The person in this role will help evolve the project management strategy to leverage innovative and tailored approaches that best fit the university through project management standards, best practices provided by institute guidance including the Project Management Institute (PMI - Project Management, Agile Project Management, Organizational Change Management, Program Management), ITIL, Lead Six Sigma, and International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA). The Director will assist the PMO staff of senior technical project managers interact with key stakeholders and sponsors with varying degrees of experience with mature project management and work with them to expedite and catalyze the successful completion of major initiatives.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years as a the Manager/Director of a large PMO and experience in the areas below -

  1. Methodology and Standards: Developing and promoting project management methodologies, frameworks, and best practices tailored to the organization's needs. This includes defining project management processes, templates, and guidelines.

  2. Project Portfolio Management: Overseeing the organization's project portfolio, which involves evaluating, selecting, and prioritizing projects based on strategic alignment, resource availability, and business value. The PMO monitors project performance, tracks progress, and ensures project objectives are met.

  3. Resource Management: Assisting in resource allocation and capacity planning across projects. The PMO helps balance resource demands, identifies skill gaps, and facilitates resource leveling to optimize resource utilization and productivity.

  4. Reporting and Metrics: Establishing reporting mechanisms and providing project status updates to stakeholders, executive management, and other relevant parties. The PMO collects project data, analyzes metrics, and produces reports to assess project performance and inform decision-making.

  5. Risk and Issue Management: Implementing risk and issue management processes, facilitating identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks and issues. The PMO helps establish risk management frameworks and provides guidance to project teams on effective risk mitigation strategies.

  6. Communication and Collaboration: Promoting effective communication and collaboration among project teams, stakeholders, and executives. The PMO facilitates knowledge sharing, fosters collaboration, and establishes communication channels to ensure project transparency and alignment.

  7. Training and Support: Providing training, mentoring, and coaching to project managers and teams, promoting project management competency and professional development. The PMO may offer guidance on project management tools, techniques, and certifications.

  8. Continuous Improvement: Driving continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating project outcomes, identifying lessons learned, and implementing process enhancements. The PMO helps the organization learn from past projects and optimize project management practices.

  9. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computing Science, Business or related field.

  10. PMP, PqMP or Printz certification. null
