The School of Dentistry has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Account Representative Supervisor to join their team.
The Department of Patient Revenue Cycle Operations at the UW School of Dentistry supports dental/medical coding, billing and collection activity for patients treated by students and faculty at 13 dental clinics on campus and off-site clinics and medical centers. This Patient Account Representative Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of Patient Account Representatives responsible for exercising judgment to determine appropriate course of action to resolve the patient account in its entirety. Under general supervision by the Revenue Cycle Director, this individual will work as supervisor for the other Patient Account Representatives while developing and implementing procedures and job aids for the department. The successful candidate will excel in verbal and written communications with internal and external stakeholders; and serve as a subject matter expert for multiple clinic and department staff, faculty, and students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise Patient Account Representatives and other assigned staff.
Interview and recommend selection of applicants.
Evaluate, develop, and implement policies and procedures for Patient Revenue Cycle department.
Orient/train new staff to School of Dentistry policies, procedures, practice management system, and related applications (One Health Port, Availity, Practice Mate, Mindscape, Epic, and other insurance-related web portals).
Monitor daily workflow; adjust work assignments as necessary; monitor productivity and quality of work by unit staff.
Review work of Patient Account Representatives and give instruction to increase efficiencies and accuracy in account resolution and compliance with department policies and procedures.
Act as liaison between payers, UW School of Dentistry Clinics, and off-site service centers to resolve complex billing issues.
Conduct annual performance evaluations.
Lead meetings and efforts at process improvement.
Answer questions from faculty, staff, and students; resolve patient account problems or unusual billing situations.
Perform the work of Patient Account Representatives.
Perform related duties as required. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients.
Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School graduation and two years of college-level courses AND three years of experience in an appropriately related patient accounting function.OR
Equivalent education/experience.
