UW Medical Center–Northwest – Long Term Civil Commitment has an outstanding opportunity for a Occupational Therapist to join us in our new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning building.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 40 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday with rotating weekends

  • Day Shift The anticipated start date for this position is June 10, 2024. The Center for Behavioral Health and Learning will open to patients in spring 2024.

  • Provides occupational therapy services to patients in the behavioral health units. ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning , opening on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Works alongside Psychiatrists and Hospitalists, RNs, Recreation Therapists, and CNAs. - Completes initial Occupational Therapy assessments for all patients admitted per caseload. - Identifies care needs, develops an individualized treatment plan and implements that plan via OT group sessions and/or individual treatments for patients with a wide array of psychiatric conditions. - Provides patient education and preparation for discharge, including written recommendations for follow up care as needed. - Provides personalized care with compassion, dignity, and respect.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS - Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and successful completion of American Occupational Therapy certification examination. - OR Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification or registration. - Licensed by the state of Washington as an Occupational Therapist or has a valid limited permit issued by the state of Washington to practice occupational therapy.
