Responsibilities

Virginia Mason Medical Center seeks a highly motivated and experienced Procedural Nursing Professional Development Specialist to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of our procedural nursing staff. This role requires a strong understanding of procedural nursing best practices, adult learning principles, and curriculum development. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Needs Assessment & Curriculum Development: Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and learning needs within the procedural nursing team. Develop and implement comprehensive educational programs, including classroom instruction, online modules, simulations, and hands-on training, addressing identified needs. This includes creating engaging learning materials, selecting appropriate teaching methodologies, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational standards

  • Program Implementation & Facilitation : Deliver engaging and effective training programs to procedural nursing staff at all levels. This includes facilitating workshops, providing individual coaching and mentoring, and overseeing practical skills training sessions. Maintain accurate records of training participation and competency.

  • Evaluation & Improvement: Develop and implement methods to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and make necessary revisions to curriculum and delivery methods. Track key performance indicators related to procedural nursing competency and safety.

  • Policy & Procedure Development/Revision : Collaborate with clinical leadership to develop, revise, and maintain procedural nursing policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory standards.

  • Mentorship & Suppor t: Provide ongoing mentorship and support to procedural nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Address individual learning needs and provide resources for continued professional growth.

  • Collaboration & Communication : Collaborate effectively with other members of the healthcare team, including clinical staff, management, and other educators. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders regarding training programs, policy updates, and other relevant information.

  • Stay Current : Maintain current knowledge of best practices in procedural nursing, relevant regulations, and advancements in technology and techniques. Attend professional development activities and participate in relevant professional organizations.

  • Compliance : Ensure all training programs and materials comply with relevant regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

Required:

WA state RN license,

BSN or equivalent degree, and a minimum of three years of nursing experience. Certification in Nursing Professional Development is required within two years of hire. The incumbent must possess excellent communication, teaching, group facilitation and presentation skills, demonstrate, and teach new technology, equipment, patient care and standards of care. This position requires an individual who will promote high standards of care and model/mentor new as well as experienced staff.

Preferred:

Prior experience as an educator and relevant clinical experience. Certification in nursing clinical specialty area is preferred. The incumbent must have knowledge of VM Production System and Lean principles or obtain such knowledge within one year of hire.

$49.65 - $66.30 /hour
