Amazon Network Development Engineer, AWS Networking in Seattle, Washington

Are you a Network Engineer with experience building automated solutions who enjoys working in a fast paced and collaborative environment? Amazon.com is looking for best-in-class Network Engineers to help deploy, scale and automate one of the world’s largest and complex networks. We are expanding at a tremendous rate it is our responsibility to maintain quality and reliability while developing innovative ways to automate the scaling of our network.

Key job responsibilities

• Be responsible for automation of deploying network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports the Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments and multiple AWS services.

• Deploy, scale and automate our network across multiple global datacenters. This includes existing footprints and greenfield locations.

• Drive scaling of current network designs to meet the demand of our customers.

• Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.

• Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.

• Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.

• Create and implement changes on the network.

• Automate workfow and execution of deployments on a global scale

• Work closely with our automation teams in transitioning and designing new tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume

A day in the life

• Manage engineering projects and consultants

• Travel to the work site to observe and inspect field projects

• Interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers.

• Prioritize your activities to support data center capacity availability and safety focusing on the actions that are most impactful.

• Work on projects locally and globally.

Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction and Design).

• In field work to see things up close.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience

  • 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience

  • Associate's degree, or CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) or CFR (CyberSec First Responder) or Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
