Amazon MFG Manager I , Amazon Manufacturing Services in Seattle, Washington

Description

You are the first line of communication to leadership regarding workcenter, equipment or process performance, blockers, and team. You communicate status with other cross-functional leads in upstream and downstream processes and share lessons learned for continuous organizational improvements. You are involved in solving straightforward technical problems and help make decisions involving resource constraints. You assist peers with setup and runs involving specialized manufacturing equipment to fabricate products. You review and may perform first article fabrications of products from engineering drawings, models, or industry specifications. You review team performance metrics (non-conformances generated, throughput, machine efficiency, first pass yield) to ensure conformance to operational goals. You are knowledgeable in most industry materials applicable to your job functions and are a resource to your team when making machine and process decisions involving specialty materials. You are expert in applicable machine specific software for position (CAD/CAM software, 3D printing software, precision inspection CMM software, etc) and help troubleshoot issues encountered by peers. You may support development articles with more limited engineering definition. You train peers on equipment and on technical and operational opportunities.

Ambiguity

Capable of managing a team where the problem, opportunity, and strategy are defined. Uses knowledge to decide who does which tasks to meet daily goals. May seek direction and/or need coaching on management skills.

Scope and Influence

Direct supervisor of a team of L1-L3 ICs. Does not manage managers. Number of reports determined by manager. Influences team. Learning to mentor.

Hires, attracts and onboards talent ensuring rapid exposure and skill development. Identifies and communicates priorities, sets clear performance expectations and feedback. Provides coaching and career development to recognize strengths and identifies opportunities to stretch and grow team members to set up for promotion. Actively listens and values team input and can change direction with new viewpoints. Displays empathy and supports team on balancing work and life responsibilities.

Execution

Audits work queues and service level agreement (SLA) adherence. Facilitates successful results for customers. Identify priorities and knows when a situation requires a deep dive vs. issues that can be solved quickly. Recommends improvements to tools and procedures. Manages straightforward problems. Escalates roadblocks and risks.

Problem Complexity

Solves straightforward problems. Solutions are tested and may need refinement.

Communication

Is clear and concise in verbal and written communication (e.g., narratives, WBR/MBR, meeting notes/agendas). Manages meetings effectively. Learning to put the right people in the room. Is trusted to present decisions to leaders up to 3 tiers above level (L7). Learning to communicate across an increasing diversity of locales and roles. Documents issues and communicates effectively by conveying ideas and reasoning and following up with dialogue when needed.

Basic Qualifications

4+ years of relevant experience in Machining, Welding, Inspection or Additive manufacturing environment.

4+ years programming and operating Machining, Welding, Inspection or Additive manufacturing equipment in a production environment.

4+ years experience using manufacturing execution systems such as, SAP or Rapid Fab, to track and report production executions.

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of relevant experience in Machining, Welding, Inspection or Additive manufacturing environment.

6+ years programming and operating Machining, Welding, Inspection or Additive manufacturing equipment in a production environment.

6+ years experience using manufacturing execution systems such as, SAP or Rapid Fab, to track and report production executions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $75,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $134,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
