Snap Inc. Manager, Software Engineering in Seattle, Washington
Lead a group of software developers creating the next generation advertisement experience at Snap, based on AR technology. Build and grow a team of exceptional software engineers and technical leaders by providing feedback, coaching, and mentorship on a regular basis. Collaborate with other teams in the monetization organization, as well as the camera platform and lens teams, in order to build a brand new on-camera shopping ecosystem. Create and manage cross-platform (iOS, Android, Backend) engineering roadmaps that will enable the foundations of our on-camera shopping product strategy. Partner cross-functionally with stakeholder teams at snap in order to align and deliver such product milestones. Build a scalable and sustainable infrastructure that will support Snap's AR commercialization efforts. Evaluate the technical tradeoffs involved in key system design decisions (especially related to backend modules and integrations with existing core components, such as the commerce and product catalog services). Closely collaborate with Product Managers in order to translate product requirements into technical designs, which are then turned into engineering roadmaps. Influence key decisions and evaluate tradeoffs on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions through design reviews, code reviews, and data analysis. Iterate quickly without compromising quality and deliver operational excellence by identifying, resolving, and root causing issues. Define clear success metrics for the team as a whole and for team members individually. Manage and mentor a team of great developers, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment. Required education/experience: Master of Science or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field plus one (1) year of experience in the job offered, Software Development/Engineering or closely related experience; OR Bachelor of Science or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered, Software Development/Engineering or closely related experience. Required Skills: Knowledge and/or experience in: Hands on software engineering experience. Experience designing RESTful APIs. Programming languages: Java, Python, C, C++. Development tools (Proficiency in at least one of the following): Git, Gradle, IntelliJ, Google App Engine. Operating systems: Mac OS, Linux. *Knowledge/experience means knowledge/experience sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Base salary: $229,986 - $333,000 per year. This position is eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus award. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
