Starbucks manager, Retail Communications (Hybrid - Seattle) in Seattle, Washington

Now Brewing – manager, Retail Communications ! #tobeapartner

Retail Communications is the internal communications team responsible for delivering communications that inform, inspire and engage partners within the retail organization. Part of the broader Partner Communications team, this highly cross-functional group works with subject matter experts across Starbucks to drive storytelling and deliver the latest information and updates, in a clear, concise, transparent and deeply human way, always through the lens of Our Mission and Values. Each communication we deliver is an opportunity to provide our store partners with the context and clarity they need to be confident in their roles, while ensuring they feel seen, heard and valued as a partner.

As a manager on our Retail Communications team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering best-in-class internal communications targeted at all levels of our retail/store partner audience. You will lead, advise and execute plans that elevate retail partner voices and play a key role in partner engagement, advocacy and culture through listening, transparency, empathy and action.

What you’ll do:

Manage retail partner campaigns in partnership with external, digital communications, enterprise communications, events and more. This includes identifying campaign objectives and key messages, defining thoughtful strategies to deliver those messages and partnering with stakeholders to bring timely deliverables to life across communication channels. You’ll align on plans, know when and how to bring your leaders along, and ensure seamless execution.

Draft, edit and facilitate reviews of planned and unplanned communications as well as issues management. This includes helping quickly triage, develop messaging, outlining clear actions and instructions for our retail partner audience.

Create dynamic and engaging communications and content for retail partners and leadership. Our retail leaders are busier than ever, and we’re looking for someone who understands their roles and duties, can work fast, and develop short, engaging messaging that work for them.

Use partner sentiment, insights and data to inform your plans and ensure continuous improvement.

Work in a non-hierarchical manner to build relationships, ask questions, bring forward well-informed ideas, and learn from your team. You’ll leverage the foundation of strong relationships you build to help move work forward.

Serve on our on-call rotation for select weekends or weeks to help write and publish emergency communications, working with team members across U.S. time zones

What you’ll need:

You are an exceptional writer with a strong communications background. You can decode “corporate speak” and write brief, clear and persuasive communications that engage our audience and reduce confusion.

A deep curiosity and passion for the retail partner experience. The ideal candidate understands the right voice and tone necessary for our partner audience and has a demonstrated understanding of Starbucks and its retail business.

Natural disposition to work with urgency and limited guidance from your supervisor.

Desire to learn from your success, failures and from the experience of others.

Comfortable working with a hybrid team.

How you’ll work:

Collaboratively and cross-functionally. You’re known for your ability to influence without authority.

Efficiently. You often manage multiple projects while maintaining superior attention to detail.

Confidently and proactively. You can quickly adapt to changing priorities. You effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, work independently and maintain confidentiality.

You write concisely, and quickly – this is key.

Inclusively and with humility. You encourage diversity of thought and gather feedback judiciously, and you know when to adjust your approach and when to follow your initial vision. You bring others along and over-communicate so your leaders and teams can support you.

Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of communications, operations or change management experience preferred, ideally in a fast-paced communications, campaign or retail setting.

Minimum 2 years serving in a decision-making or audience subject matter expert role on cross-functional teams and projects.
