Harborview Medical Center is in search of a Manager - Respiratory Care (Health Services Manager) . Under general direction, the Manager will assist in developing strategic goals to ensure adherence to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and business strategies. The Manager supports overall program development and service priorities emphasizing service excellence, patient and family centered care, patient safety, and patient satisfaction. This position will support leadership within the department with activities that promote program growth, fiscal responsibility and staff satisfaction.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements departmental goals as outlined by leadership. Monitors performance toward goal completion and develops strategies to optimize outcomes.

  • Supports director and administrator in all aspects of departmental operations and planning.

  • Collaborates with director, administrator and medical directors to formulate departmental goals.

  • Maintains relevant clinical and technological knowledge and integrates that knowledge into work related practices.

  • Coordinates clinical benchmarking and research studies for the improvement of quality outcomes as directed by director, administrator and medical director

  • Serves as a timely resource for staff in complex problem solving involving patient and family issues. Maintains accessibility, response, and follow-through on off shifts and weekends.

  • Oversees employee schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage to effectively cover priority needs.

  • Oversee job development design, work processes and work flows. Implements appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, efficiency that supports the overall goals for the department and organization.

  • In collaboration with the director, administrator, department managers and Medical Director(s), coordinates, develops, and participates in departmental research, conferences, and special projects that improve the prestige of the departments and HMC within the medical community.

  • Coordinates and participates in the development of educational programs and hospital in-service education for all staff based on identified needs.

  • Aids and directs employee development programs both within and outside the hospital.

  • Collaborates and promotes team building and staff satisfaction. Designs recruitment and recognition programs that sustain effective teams. Creates an environment that is conducive to staff support, growth and satisfaction.

  • Inspires teams and individuals to achieve desired patient and organizational outcomes.

  • Directs the interviewing and hiring of qualified personnel.

  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of related specialties to effectively manage technical and clerical staff for maximum efficiency and quality.

  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact Harborview Medical Center and UW Medicine. Incorporates changes in regulatory requirements and other agencies into policies, procedures, and practice guidelines as necessary.

  • Develops effective controls that promote adherence to applicable State/Federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies. Ensures department practices are compliant with DOH and TJC accreditation standards.

  • Supervises budget preparation process including volume projections, predicted expenditures, anticipated program growth and capital equipment purchases.

  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact related business units. Incorporates changes in regulatory requirements and other agencies into policies, procedures, and practice guidelines as necessary.

  • Promotes organizational philosophy, values, and pillar goals and models service excellence in daily practice. Maintains accountability for departmental priorities and Access to Excellence goals.

  • Supports Patients are First leadership strategies. Model Service Culture Guidelines in daily practice. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS -Must have Bachelor Degree in related field and six years of relevant experience to include three years of supervisory experience.-Master’s Degree in related field is preferred.LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:-Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Must maintain a license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the State of Washington.-Must maintain current BCLS certification.
