Indeed, Inc. Manager, Data Engineering in Seattle, Washington
Provide hands-on leadership of a team of data engineers building highly scalable data pipelines and data solutions. Lead the data engineering team and work to enable successful technical delivery through a senior team of data engineers. Unblock technical work, manage career growth, and support relationships with other Indeed teams. Manage multiple streams of work on behalf of the team and make pragmatic decisions to balance scalability and long-term maintainability. Document implementations effectively and work with stakeholders to validate the solutions the team builds and deliver them to customers.
Oversee the design and implementation of multiple concurrent data engineering projects. Manage the development of code-based data pipelines capable of handling millions of events per day. Analyze and manage the resolution of system performance and reliability issues. Develop team processes and standards to reduce occurrence of future issues. Manage the design and implementation of automated testing to enforce data quality standards. Lead or contribute to continuous improvement in development standards and processes. Collaborate with product leadership, partner teams, vendors and others to define project scope, evaluate technologies, or otherwise provide technical direction.
Position is in Seattle, WA. Up to 100% telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is permitted.
**Job Requirements
**Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent technical field;
- Seven years of professional work experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or similar role;
- Seven years of professional work experience in coding, using at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Java, or similar;
- Five years of professional work experience using big data technologies, such as Snowflake, Hive, Redshift, Kafka, or similar;
- Five years of professional work experience as a people manager or lead with an emphasis on servant leadership and career support for direct reports;
- Expert-level understanding of data pipeline fundamentals and performance tuning; and
- Expert-level understanding of data modeling fundamentals for analytical solutions.
Experience may be gained concurrently.
Multiple positions available.
$184,000 to $266,000 per year
