Georgetown Brewing Co Maintenance Technician in Seattle, Washington

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager & Assistant Head Brewer, the Maintenance Technician will identify, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems throughout a production brewery in an efficient, professional, and safe manner. Including but not limited to; brewhouse and cellar systems, packaging equipment, plant infrastructure and associated utility services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot any issues that come up during the day. Adjusting, cleaning, repairing, or replacing items necessary to continue operations, while minimizing downtime, maintaining product quality in a safe work environment.
  • Execute and log daily, weekly, monthly etc. preventative maintenance tasks on various items throughout the brewery including but not limited to greasing, lubing, cleaning, watering, servicing, repairing, replacing.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area on the production floor, keeping the shop and parts room clean, organized and well stocked.
  • Effective communication of issues with appropriate parties and departments using a variety of platforms: Slack, email, text, call, verbal, written.
  • Work on projects independently with minimal direction. Projects to include: rebuilding a pump, rewiring a drive, replacing a wheel on industrial power vehicles, troubleshooting issues with packaging equipment, etc.
  • Working effectively in a team environment on larger projects to include cellar expansion, new brewhouse, cold room installation, new boiler room, removal of old equipment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of how equipment, machines and systems work and how to keep them running efficiently: electrical, mechanical, machinery, plumbing, welding, fabricating, boilers.
  • Identifying the issue, diagnosing the cause, development, and implementation of solution.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively report various problems and solutions to those problems as well as reading and interpreting maintenance documentation, plans, and manuals.
  • Keen eye and attention to detail identifying smaller issues within a bigger system.
  • Working in and maintaining a clean and organized work environment, detailed note taking and documentation.
  • Identify problems before they occur, take steps to fix the problem, anticipate ongoing needs of the plant, ability to keep busy and execute tasks with little direction or guidance, quick learner able to research solutions to problems.
  • Effective use of time and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working quickly under pressure to minimize downtime.
  • Ability to work in both a team environment as well as independently.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, thinking outside the box to solve problems.
  • Having a good understanding of entire plant operations and how actions affect the other areas of operation, flexibility, and versatility in priorities as issues arise during the day.
  • Must be physically able to withstand long periods of standing, climbing ladders, bending over, kneeling, crouching, crawling under equipment and able to lift and move heavy objects.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Primary working conditions will be in a brewery/warehouse setting requiring prolonged standing, lifting, and bending.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position, in front of a computer for extended periods of time.

Required use of manufacturing equipment including heavy machinery such as forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks and other manufacturing vehicles and brewery equipment.
