Milliman, Inc Litigation Paralegal in Seattle, Washington

Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Litigation Paralegal is an in-house position in the Milliman legal department. This position primarily supports in-house Milliman attorneys on first party claims against Milliman and claims against Milliman clients, for which Milliman consultants are involved as a witness or as an expert or for which Milliman is subpoenaed for records. The successful applicant will collaborate with Milliman legal, IT, and business team members and outside counsel to respond to such claims and subpoenas. Additionally, the successful applicant will have an interest, and some experience with, contract review, redlining, and negotiation. RESPONSIBILITIES: Communicate with Milliman legal team member and internal clients regarding new and existing litigation matters. Coordinate with outside counsel on conflict checks. Communicate with in-house legal team on attorney assignment. Provide preparatory work for depositions, including communication between outside counsel and internal clients. Coordinate with IT to implement litigation holds and help with electronic discovery. Draft, review, redline and negotiate business terms for a variety of contractual agreements, including NDAs, amendments, and third-party releases. Ensure appropriate contract terms and conditions are in place to protect the financial and commercial interests of Milliman. Organize and maintain contracts within Milliman's legal contract management system. Coordinate and participate in meetings with legal team members and internal clients to discuss and complete contract reviews, approvals, and other pertinent information. Provide knowledge transfer, training and expertise within the legal department and with internal clients. Assist with legal department projects as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Limited travel, up to 10%. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: The ideal candidate must have minimum Four (4) years of in-house or law firm experience, with two (2) years of such experience in either a professional services firm or software company. The ideal candidate must have previous experience with litigation. Must have good understanding of when to escalate litigation matters to internal counsel. Must have the ability to work well with outside counsel. Must possess strong ability to review, analyze and summarize existing & potential contract terms and provide succinct meaningful feedback, questions and recommendations to internal clients. Must have strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must have intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Outlook; working knowledge of SharePoint and Teams preferred. Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner. Must have the proven ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Must be proactive, dynamic and result driven individual with strong attention to detail. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Paralegal certificate in the state of Washington. Some experience with drafting, reviewing, redlining, and negotiating contractual agreements, specifically non-disclosure agreements, third party release agreements and amendments. Contract Management System experience (Agiloft preferred). Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Proactive, dynamic and result driven individual with strong attention to detail. Ability to understand business strategy. LOCATION: This is a remote position.
