WSP USA Lead Mechanical Engineer in Seattle, Washington
This Opportunity
WSP has an immediate opening for a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to support design and construction activities on major infrastructure projects throughout the United States and abroad. This position may be located in Seattle, WA, Los Angeles, CA, or Sacramento, CA .
Project assignments may include: road and rail tunnels, transportation centers, transit maintenance facilities, commercial buildings and structures, substations, process facilities, parking structures and pump stations. This is an excellent technical position for an ambitious engineer to work and grow in a supportive environment with a close-knit group of mechanical engineers and design professionals and with abundant opportunity for advancement. It involves performing critical engineering functions on highly visible and significant projects for an internationally recognized global firm in a field designated for expansion.
Your Impact
Lead HVAC design efforts on major building and infrastructure projects.
Prepare design documents, calculations, drawings and specifications for mechanical systems including, emergency ventilation systems, building HVAC systems, piping and hydraulic systems.
Perform emergency ventilation analyses to control smoke movement in road and rail tunnels using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools.
Design large-capacity emergency ventilation fan plants for road and rail tunnel smoke control
Perform system pressure drop, air distribution and ducting calculations for tunnel ventilation systems.
Work with and mentor junior engineers.
Assist in the development of costs estimates for mechanical systems.
Produce design elements using advanced CAD methods, 3D modeling and BIM.
Provide field inspection, system testing and other support during construction activities
Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various engineering, design, and construction issues relating to automatic temperature control systems and specifications, air distribution (supply, return, exhaust), hydronic systems (chilled water, heating water, etc.), plumbing systems (domestic water, waste, vent, storm, etc.), and fire protection systems.
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior mechanical design experience.
Engineer license required.
Proficient with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to project work-related issues.
Extensive knowledge of building and infrastructure design, codes and standards.
Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects.

Compensation :
Expected Salary: $95,000 - $169,290
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
