We are searching for an experience Labor Relation Manager. The Labor Relations Manager role is based in Seattle, Washington. The role reports directly to the Director, Labor Relations.

What you’ll get to do

  • Collective Bargaining Agreement support and interpretation

  • Assist the Director, Labor Relations in negotiation of major collective agreements, while developing skills to assume lead bargaining role.

  • Manage negotiations of other collective agreements

  • Manage grievance process for all CBA up to arbitration and assist the Director in arbitration and settlement activity. Develop skills as arbitration advocate.

  • Assists and counsel business leaders on disciplinary actions, accommodation requests, and similar matters.

  • Assist and support Union Compliance administration and collaborate with Corporate Benefits to ensure compliance with Heidelberg Materials sponsored benefit plans.

  • Work with operations in reviewing organization development, staffing, and training optimization for unionized facilities.

  • Conduct wage market analysis in support of contract negotiation planning.

  • Analyze labor cost and employ labor costing model in negotiation process.

  • Support NAM Human Resources and business leaders with projects as needed.

  • Travel – 50% of time including ability to travel to Canada.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in labor, human resources, or business management

  • Five to eight years labor experience, human resources with a heavy labor emphasis, or operations management with a strong labor relations responsibility

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven results in problem solving and consensus building

  • Organized and detailed in documentation

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Business acumen and strong understanding of labor costs structures

  • Knowledgeable in compensation and benefit systems and structures

  • Experience as negotiator and serving as advocate in dispute resolution
